일시: 2022년 4월 22일 (금) 16:00~17:00 장소: 온라인 줌 (ID 859 8124 5649 / PW 624917) 강사: 한지영 (Tata institute of fundamental research, Mumbai) 주제: How homogeneous dynamics can be useful in problems in the geometry of numbers II 초록 In the second talk, we will review Iwasawa decomposition of a semisimple Lie group and its geometric interpretation on the upper hyperbolic plane when a Lie group is SL(2,R). We will also see the geometric glance of Ratner's theorems in this case. Using Ratner's theorems, one can approach the Oppenheim conjecture, which is asking when a quadratic form has arbitrary small values of integral lattice points. This idea originated from Margulis.
